ASSAM GOVERNMENT AND APA AGREE TO EXTEND CEASEFIRE AGREEMENT FOR NEXT SIX MONTHS

Adivasi People’s Army1 ASSAM GOVERNMENT AND APA AGREE TO EXTEND CEASEFIRE AGREEMENT FOR NEXT SIX MONTHSAssam government and terror outfit Adivasi People’s Army (APA) on Friday (13th January) reached to an agreement to extend ceasefire agreement for the next six months.
Speaking about the agreement, Uday Kumar Kisko, Commander in Cheif of APA, said, “The government wanted us to lay down arms by 26th January. We want a double lock system that will enable us along with the state government to keep a tab on the weapons…”

Under the “double-lock” system, the weapons are to be kept at a place which will be locked with two locks and the outfit has demanded that the key of each lock be with the police and the outfit.
The fresh agreement has come up in the wake of the previous ceasefire agreement between the two sides expires on 14th January 2012.
